Hunting trip coming up this fall. Its only going to be a 3 or 4 hour drive from here, and its definitely going to be illegal.. I just hope I can be the one to take the shot, or finish it off or it might not count towards my goal.

Even something like a fish. Of course, my killing tactic was rather brutal and savage (smashing its head in with a rock), but it was all I had at the time. I think it is a valuable thing to know. Survival is important, but also respect for the animal which loses its life so that you may continue yours. You should know what is happening whenever you consume flesh, what it means.
So I was doing a project and the project requirements was to do something that was good for your health as well as for the environment. I chose to reduce my meat intake, and this I definitly achieved (reduced by 3 times!). So now I eat meat still more then I want to, but being a poor student I do find it hard to eat healthy, right, and do it cheap. So I bum a lot of meals from parents and friends. Anyways, I took a slow and realistic approach to cutting down my meat intake as apose to becomming complete vegitarian (and yes I know vegan is the proper way to go). But then I started thinking… the reason I want to reduce my meat intake is for the environment but not becuase I feel bad for the actually animal. its more becuase of things like the amount of grain it takes to produce meat (15 pounds of grain for 1 pound of beef, 10..? -1 for pork, and 2-1 for poultry) and becuase of the mass amounts of fossil fuels needed for getting the meats on the market and it your bell, and finally (i feel like i’m rambling) the humans around the world being hurt by the North American norm of consumption.
So now, the reason i say i want to kill and eat an animal is becuase i think that if i am going to include meat into my diet i want to be thankful for that creature and really realize that it took a life to feed me. I’m not doing this to be cruel, but i think by going hunting, killing, preparing and cooking an animal would really help me stick with reducing or complelte excluding my meat intake, and even if i do continue to eat meat at the same quantity i will actually appreciate that animal, and the earth that much more.
My philosopphy in a nut shell. If you can’t kill, prepare or watch an animal be killed and prepared for your consumption you shouldnt be eating it. Inturesting experiment for myself, but right now i think that i will be able to kill an animal, prepare and eat it, and that it will result in me cutting meat completley out of my diet or reducing to one meal a week.
Feed back please! ;)
