1steph11 is going to push herself to do better.
How I did it: I joined on the site a few months ago, but I didn't do anything and just forgot about it. Then, one day, I came across the site again and decided to go ahead and see what can come out of this. I've sent three out so far and received two. It's really nice to open the mailbox and see a postcard and where it came from. Some people write things about where they are from, which I find really cool. I love getting mail, anyway. Read how I did it…
How I did it: well, i got registered at postcrossing.com and decided to get 3 adresses. i got some nice cards, wrote them and went to the psot office and finally sent them. One went to the US, one to the Netherlands and one to Finland! Read how I did it…

I only heard about postcrossing yesterday (found it on 43things actually and then googeled it) and loved the idea of it. Althought i was worried about just giving out my adress i just signed up :) i’m gonna send my first postcard in the next couple of days :)
I’m really excited about it because i usually send around 30-50 postcards home when I’m travelling, why not send some from home…
vwruleschick is looking forward to the weekend (again) !
Well, I came across it in someone’s posting entry. Never heard of it before. So finally last week I went to check it out at http://www.postcrossing.com/ and what it meant to be a member.
After reading through the information and FAQ, it got me interested again as I used to snail mail my friends in Europe and elsewhere back in the day. So I took the plunge and signed up.
Once signed up, you have up to 5 postcards you can sign up for and they provide you the information where you will be sending your postcard.
My first postcard was to England, then I got another that was going to Finland, my third was to Germany, my fourth to USA and my fifth to Finland. Once they receive their postcard they register it on the website and it allows you to send more postcards. So far I have sent 11 postcards all over including the Bahamas, Brasil, etc
It is a kewl way to meet other Postcrossing members and get to know about other places in the world. Plus, you never know you might end up there on vacation one of these days.
Kahdeksantoista is setting my goal list :-)
This took me one day from the discovery of the site. I was never told about the site. It was an accident and it is strange how things happen really!
When you trial things out you realise what a butterfly effect is. Let’s look at how I got postcrossing? OK, I love Metal music and Glam Rock. I joined myspace and saw some ‘celebrities’ were on it. I started putting names after the forward slash after myspace.com and seeing what I got. I love WASP, so naturally I tried myspace.com/blackielawless. I got a lovely Scottish metal lady from Fife who lives on Myspace. She posted a lot of bulletins with mteal videos. I clicked on one of the videos and that took me to YouTube. I discovered YouTube having not heard about it before (this was in 2004/5 I think). I was browsing one day and found ‘Crazed Numa Fan’ by Boogerdeunit. I watched all of her blogs and it inspired me to post a video response. The buzz I got from making videos and people sharing my life stories made me feel happy and I escaped from the awful, closed childhood I was living. I have been uploading vlogs to YouTube for two years now and one day I signed in and a featured video ‘7 days’ by j0ames was there. In the sidebar of that video was his Twitter link. I read his Twitter and liked the look of the site so I signed up. After being on Twitter for a while there was this woman called Angel on there. She was very secretive. Her LiveJournal was on private and so were her tweets. You had to tweet her a lot and get to become friends before she added you on Twitter, then you had to be a treasured person before she let you read her LiveJournal. I was one of these priveledged people. She is amazing at photography and started a 365 project. Which inspired me to do so ( http://www.trapezeovertheocean.co.uk ). I Googled ‘365 project’ to get the low down and I found Photojojo, I read their page on 365 projects and signed up to the newsletter. On their website they were advertising Postcrossing. Now I am not one to click on adverts as they are usually about losing 115lbs in three hours with Chinese herbal tea but this one looked legit. I clicked on the ad and it brought me to the site. You can guess what happened next.
Heidi is trying to get her life back on track
I bought stamps today. I also requested to send a postcard! I just need to buy the actual postcard… which I am doing this weekend.
My family went to Heritidge square which is an amusment park. we rode the go-carts. I got the number 8 car which is the fastest car twice. on the third time I got the regular car. I was on the tail of another car. he tried to block me he crashed into the wall I was right behind him. I crashed into him everyone had to stop. I never wanted to race go-carts in my life.
i just sent my first three postcrossing cards, and now hope to get some in return :) so, i’d say i’ve done this!
i got registered yesterday and got my first three adresses (finland, usa and denmark). I’ll get nice cards now and then i’ll send them the next days!
... i love sending and receiving snail mail. I know of a new site perhaps you might be interested. it is really in need of members.
You might find you like it. just give it a look.
hazyjb is.
Well, the first two cards I sent reached there destinations, and since then I have received six lovely cards from all around Europe. I’ve just registered to send three new cards today. I’m off to the post office now to get some stamps.
