Worth doing!
i am an activist. i’ve been one for a long time, but i still feel like i haven’t done enough. i guess that is a side-effect of this activism, because i always want to do more and make a bigger difference

I did !!!
Joined ‘Animanaturalis’ and worked with them last week in a fur-free campaign in Barcelona.
Now I’m also waiting for new Greenpeace campaigns, since I also joined them.
Really really worth doing!

I am quitting my two online activism groups. They were taking up way too much of my time. It was also really stressful because I put in a lot of work while i think many other members were not. I just give up. I’m going to spend my free time improving my life rather than being an activist. It was a short lived experience but its for the best that I drop it. Maybe they will do okay on their own or maybe not, but I just can’t do it anymore.
Being an internet activist is difficult. There are so many things I can do. I can sign and start petitions. I can pass on and write about stories the newspapers ignore. I can find easy ways for my group to achieve our goals. But all of these things take time and I am learning ways to make these tasks easier. But the good news is that our group is getting international attention. We are going to be collecting donations soon too. Things are moving. But its difficult to get constant participation. I think some of it may be because of a misconception members may have had about internet activism and volunteering that I read about on Tech Soup. The misconception is that internet volunteering takes less time than regular volunteering. But thats not true! It takes a lot of time. I don’t think many members have the time but they joined anyway. So frustrating!
I’m looking for my activist niche… thats really all I can say about that. Though I do feel strongly about so very many different things that I could easily be active about many things. I guess I need to search for some groups and organizations… as I know of none.
Maybe I’ll start my own?
(light bulb above head?)
I have become an internet activist! For the past 4 months this has been taking up most of my free time. Its sort of addictive. We started up a new activist group for people of African descent called the Afrosphere Bloggers Association. You can read about us at http://www.change.org/afrosphereba . Change.org is one of our public sites but actual ABA members have our own forum with almost 50 members. We are just starting up now and are ready to start taking action!
