I'm getting a piano!! — 4 months ago
Someone is giving me an old piano they no longer have room for. It needs a tuning and small repairs, but hey, free piano! Woot!

Now I’ll have some new material to work on once I make it thru my last practice book. It’s all classical music, but stuff that’s not too terribly difficult to play.
Since they cancelled the class and I have the book for it already, I’ve been using time once a week to go in and practice on the school pianos. (I’m taking other classes there, so I just take a little extra time afterward to go and practice). It’s going slowly (I’ve only made it thru two chapters since the semester began) but I’m pretty pleased with how I’m coming along.
Sadly, not enough people signed up for the Piano 2 class, so it was cancelled. They may be offering it again next fall. On the up-side however, I do have the new book for it. Same format as the last one, and I suppose I can set aside some time for independent study.
They changed the schedule so now they’re offering a Piano 2 course I can actually attend! I signed up for it today. Wheee!
We’re halfway thru the semester now for the introductory piano class and I’m doing quite well for a beginner. I’m enjoying it enough that I’ve talked to the teacher and if there is an evening class next semester, I’ll be signing up for the next level. Woo! :)
We’re about halfway through the semester now, and class is still doing well. Unfortunately, the timing for the next level piano class doesn’t work out for me for next semester so I’ll have to continue on my own, but at least the book I have covers some more ground.
I wavered about actually doing this, because in the fantasy of course, there is no tedious learning process, I just know how to play very well. Anyway, I figured if I copped out of the class, I’d look back and regret it. We had our first piano class last Thursday evening and it went really well. I’m off to practice today.
I found a re-introduction to piano class here locally, for those of us who played a long time ago and would like to re-learn. I’ll be signing up for it in the next couple of days. It’ll be nice to learn how to play something again.

Worth doing!
I’ve played the harp for about twelve years now, so if you have any questions I’m totally open for them. I’ve played the piano for longer but not very seriously. The harp and piano transfer over well on a very base level. I’m just learning the cello. It doesn’t sound as good as the harp does at the very beginning but it is so god damn sensual that I hope I can do it justice eventually.
