Japanese Straigthening 17 months ago

I’ve done this with shoulder length hair. It was expensive about $250 and it included the haircut and chemicals and tip. It was a half day process so take a book/magazines. It lasted even in humidity or heat. When your hair starts growing out it’s still easy to straighten the roots when the bottom is straight. Sometimes I missed my wavy hair so now it’s super short because I had to cut off the straight part. Remember that this is permanent! The touch-ups are the same costs $250 because they use just as much chemicals and it’s the same amount of work. I don’t think I would do it again, but it was worth doing once. My hair was soft and shiny and I got lots of compliments. They charge per length= hours worked. Like a hair dye job, you can’t wash it or tie it up for 2 days or so, the longer the better. So make sure to go with your hair washed that day, although they might do it for you there.

I just got my hair permenently straightened last saturday and i totally think it was worth it. It feels so long and soft now compared to how it felt when i wore it curly. I got the japanese straightener called Yuko.

Straight hair! 20 months ago

I always loved it because I didn’t have it! Go figure, right? My hair is naturally very thick and wavy, so when I was 20, I decided to chemically straighten my hair, and whew! Big mistake! It stayed straight for a bit, but once the water and humidity hit it, bye bye $200 :( Not to mention the horrid breakage that my scalp endured. It took several years before my hair was back to normal. Now that I am older, I have embraced my hair type, and it has calmed down :D I would never put chemicals in my hair again.

Worth it? 2 years ago

Yup, it sure took a long time… Here in Philly, it costs 150. Worth it? I cannot agree. There were no reminders of what to do with the hair to keep it that way from anyone. When everything is done, the tips are what matter the most :( My hair looked great on the first day. Straigten and light. I didnt know if I should shampoo the hair or not. So, I did. I blown dry it and guess what! It was completely dried up. Thanks to Kira Chan, I know NOW not to tie my hair up for weeks. What a watse of my 150. :( Reminder: if you are interested in getting this done, remember to ask the people with what to do with the hair afterwards. Now, my hair is completely damaged. I will wait for a week. Then, will probably tie them up like normal :(

Takes sooooooo long... 2 years ago

...but TOTALLY WORTH IT! XD
It was a very interesting experience actually… it took 5 hours…very boring, but cost only $90, which I think is really worth it since it’s supposed to last about 7-8 months. It was a Korean place, and was quite funny since their English was a bit limited and my Korean vocabulary is at a word count of 5. But by the end of it I was soooo happy _  I can’t go near water for a couple of days and I can’t tie it for a week, but it feels really nice too…Not dry or anything like that XD

OMG, I went to get my hair chemically straightened in June and it was HORRIBLE!! I highly advice against it. The first day it was great then the next day my hair was so badly dried it felt like I got a buzz cut on the top!! (It was still there but my hair felt broken..) and then dont get me started on the tangles and the nappiness.
