I’m not insane, I am relieved though. The last 2 weeks were a tad nuts, but nothing too brutal. Hey, it even rained and was only 9 degrees Celcius…. and it was still fantastic. Lots of pictures to come.
What a ride – a wonderful ride… now the real part comes in – I can’t wait!!!

The fact that May 10 was the “1 month to go” marker got to me for some reason. Or maybe it was the fact that everyone I know felt the need to remind me that it’s ONLY a month away. Thanks. Now we’ve moved into “less than a month, hey guys !??” Like I need reminding.
Needless to say, I think I may be starting to crack. We’ve had a photographer friend back out, but luckily found a plan B. I think I’m sweating the small stuff, and very caught up in the details. Neither of which is what I wanted to experience in this.
I need a bath.

Both of my weddings were very low budget, low stress events. Invite only family and maybe one close friend. Select a hotel yo0u like and do it in one of their suites. Nice and intimate and very affordable. Big weddings are sooooo out of fasion anyway.

We’ve got the invites out and the responses coming in. My shower is May 7. We have the rings, the violinist/cellist booked. A few minor details and we’re done :)
YAY!
Now I’m getting excited :)

yippee!! We only need to download some itunes & get some honkin speakers for the iPod. Forget the dj crap – we’re going high tech and self serve. Downloading the top 3 tunes of our favourites bands, our classic favourites, and specific songs that remind us of the friends and family at our wedding… we plan to organize it era by era, starting with the early tony bennett and move to the jazz, then to the 60’s hippiness, the funk of the 70’s will move to a very small selection of 80’s… then as it gets later, the raggae, the hiphop, perhaps an ac/dc tune thrown in for all the die-hards. But their will be no ‘old time rock & roll’, ‘I knew the bride when she used to rock & roll’ or anything else with rock & roll in the title for that matter. I like the genre, just not those overplayed crowd un-pleasers. Oh, and anything that resembles Footloose, as in line dancing or macarena or the bird dance, or from the footloose soundtrack is nixed.
The weddings I have attended in the past, and there were 7 in 2005 alone, have often had entertainer style djs (ala karaoke style)that often don props for guests. Now I like fun, but the YMCA props & routine are getting old. I want noneofit.
So we’re moving along. Stress in general is getting to me these days, but the beautiful spring we are having, and a 4 day weekend only a day away, I think I’ll be good as new by Tuesday….
I’m such a control freak.
Hire a dj already….

the ability to offload tasks or give away the control, as some would say, is a skill well worth developing and boy oh boy, has it come in handy in THIS situation!!
I recently offloaded a task to my boy, finding someone to marry us, as well as the details required since we are getting married at a resort in quebec, but live in ontario. and did he do it well. we have a lovely woman who will marry us, she knows all the details and is available that day. As well, he has filled out the marriage license paperwork and bringing it home for me to sign.
Check and check.
We’re onto the next task!

Matches – SO cute & ORDERED!
Gift Bags – ORDERED!
I got them from www.foryourparty.com a great place to custom order stuff. I have offloaded the task of finding someone to actually marry us to my boy, and so that’s taken care of.
So far so good; my navigation through the $55 Billion wedding industry has seen few strays from te past, so I’m happy AND under budget.
Oh – and the flowers I want are in season, so again, less expensive. Few complains & making a lot of headway.

And I have 1/4 of the favors done! I’m on a role actually. As long as I keep making progress I’ll be fine. Phew :)
