A little more

I got some free time early this morning while Ship took the wee one to play in Mankato. I added the rest of what I had cut out to the canvas. I also had Ship bring up my easel so I wouldn’t have to lay it on the bed this time!

When I’m asked, “What are you up to today?” And I respond with “I’m working on my painting finally.” Why is it that I feel the other party is upset that this is how I choose to spend my time? I did graduate with a fine arts degree in painting/printmaking, so.. this IS what I choose to be doing with my life. No, it wont rake in the dough but, it’s what I have chosen my path to be. When I was in school I had a few supporters but now that it is over I feel like they no longer accept this as legitimate.
I graduated in ‘06 and the closest thing I have come to creating art was the silk screening project in early ‘07 and the quilting I started last year. It’s been three years sine I held a paint brush in my hand, not counting when the girls and I painted he newly created family room downstairs.
Is it OK for me to speak up and say what’s on my mind about this or will I be shut down by the famous words “I don’t have a problem with you painting or doing anything you want to do for that matter.” If these words were true, the actions wouldn’t be so contradicting.
Here is what I’ve done so far. This project has been going on for three years, I’m very excited to be working on it finally! It feels good. I had no problem falling right back in step with the way my mind works while “painting/creating”.
I don’t like feeling bad about my art. I don’t understand why I must feel ashamed for doing it.

Today I finally figured out the details of a painting I have been “working on” for three years. I know exactly what to do and how I’ll do it! Should I video tape it or just take still update photos? I’m not sure. I will get started soon!
I honestly can’t believe I never thought of this before! Duh … lol

Painting is my love life, too long has it been forgotten!
Make time each day to add a little and soon enough I will be overloaded with finished canvases again!
