Day 10b complete. 18 hours ago

I am sooooooo happy with my room right now! Got the last few odds and ends put where they belong, and sorted through the pile of paper I had deposited on my bed – half of it went to the trash. Still a few pictures to hang, but there is so much less clutter, it feels so nice to be in here now!!!!

I might not get to Day 11 for another day or two, but I am looking forward to doing it.

Starting over: day one 1 day ago

Open the windows to change the air.
(Again, the spider issue…)

For reference 1 day ago

Day 1: Open the windows to change the air.
Day 2: Open the windows first thing in the morning and take a few deep breaths.
Day 3: Open the windows first thing in the morning, take a few deep breaths, and say “Thank you.”

Day 4: Take out everything from your wallet and throw away unnecessary items such as old receipts and coupons. Wipe the wallet with soft cloth and put things back with gratitude.
Day 5: Do the same with your purse or bag. Carry only what you need in an organized way.
Day 6: Check the address book in your cell phone or PDA. Delete contacts you do not need.

Day 7: Clean the mirrors in the bathroom.
Day 8: Wipe the lights in the bathroom.
Day 9: Put away the personal care items in the cupboard and clean the vanity.

Day 10: Move as many appliances, furniture and knickknacks out of the bedroom. Vacuum (including the underneath of the bed). Bring in only what is nurturing for your rest and relaxation. Other things such as electric gadgets go to your work area.
Day 11: Go through your wardrobe and throw away clothes that you don’t wear any longer. You can donate them to Good Will if they are still in good condition, so don’t feel bad about this.
Day 12: Wash the bed linen and the clothes.

Day 13: Check your bookshelf. Throw out books that you’ve read and don’t expect to read again, books you thought you would read someday but don’t see when that would be, along with old magazines and scraps.
Day 14: Clean up the desk drawers. Keep only what you need in an organized way. Other things can go to storage such as office supply box.
Day 15: Throw away your other “someday” items. This may include exercise kits, hobbies you thought you might try later, anything that you are holding onto just because it was cheap, or expensive, or supposed to be useful but don’t really see how it fits into your life.

Day 16: Designate area to take off shoes. You don’t want to bring in the dirt, literally and figuratively, from the outside into your personal space.
Day 17: Clean up the door way. The entrance is the first place your visitors see upon coming to your place, so strive to give great first impression. No trash sitting there, please. This also helps you feel better yourself when you come home.
Day 18: Clean your shoes.

Day 19: Clean the dining table. As usual, no unnecessary items – just clean placemats and a flower would do.
Day 20: Clean the windows. (Have you been opening them occasionally?) Let the light in.
Day 21: General clean up. If there are items that seem to be out of place, decide if you need it, and if so, decide where it goes. Each item needs its place. You want your place in the world, too.

Day 10a complete. 1 day ago

Meaning…I took all of the stuff off the shelves in my room, cleared out under the bed (where, apparently, I have been licking stamps, eating jawbreakers, and reading Psychology Today), removed stuff from the top of my dresser and that-big-wooden-box-I-call-the-linen-chest-but-doesn’t-have-linens-inside. Dusted all the shelves, wooden masks, top of the dresser, hung the mirror over the dresser instead of leaning it against the wall on top of the dresser, re-evaluated my use of baskets (including appropriating Triple B’s baskets under the bed where he keeps his clothes and toiletries – I’m using those now and getting him new ones), eliminated all of the tech stuff that I never use anyway (going to sort through it later and put the “keep” stuff in the hall closet on a high shelf), and vacuumed.

The only area I didn’t really get is my drum set, because I have already started cleaning out my closet and the giveaway clothes are sitting on the drum stool, so that will get a dusting later. I also have several photos/paintings that are leaning on a wall in the corner until I decide where to hang them.

This Day has to be split into 10a and 10b, though, because now that I have cleared everything out that I don’t want in my room, I have to take the second step and get it out of the hallway and put it where I do want it to go. But a girl can only do so much in one night…I think I am going to enjoy my room more when this is done!

The first word of this goal is commit 2 days ago

I obviously didn’t do that. sigh.

OK, I did Day 7, 8, and 9 together, 2 days ago

because of my schedule. BUT I get extra energy points, because I did Day 9 one better – in the upstairs bathroom, I took all the baskets off the shelves and threw out old products I was hanging on to, reorganized the baskets, which had become mixed up a bit, took everything out from underneath the vanity, wiped down the inside of the vanity, cleaned out and reorganized all of the plastic bins under the vanity, and cleaned out, wiped down, and reorganized the two vanity drawers.

Watch how I give myself extra points. Are you watching?

Did Day 3 on Day 3, 3 days ago

then did 4, 5, and 6 all together. Well, I don’t really use a wallet, so 4 and 5 were kind of the same thing. And I had knew I was going to have to skip a day, so I doubled up.

I think I’ll have to double up here and there, or split a day in half here and there, because of my schedule. But I’m kind of liking it so far!

Way off track 6 days ago

I skipped a day or so, and today, I’m not doing a dang thing because I’m in a turkey haze and I’m so sore from yesterday’s workout all I want to do is snuggle with my Mac in bed.

This is what holidays are for..being a lazy sack.

I’ll pick back up tomorrow, maybe even catch up.

D'oh! 6 days ago

Forgot day 3 AND 4 now… I guess I’m starting over but I also guess I’d better wait until after NaNo because my head is full and so is my day.

tangerine_now YAAAY!!!

Oh crap... 1 week ago

Forgot to do this this morning. Must do day three: open windows, breathe, say thank you. Will do so this evening when I get home. By that time I may actually be grateful for the dark… :p

BTW my google calender is a mess with these things! It just gave me a reminder for tomorrow… That’s no help!
