My freshmen year of college, quite a long time ago, I would fast one day a week and then every once in awhile I would fast a little longer. Eventually I did a week fast. It’s true that you go through stages. You do become comfortable but the first few days are difficult.

Anyways, this was a long time ago and I don’t seem to have the discipline to make it through one day of fasting. I’m going to aim for this Sunday- I don’t have any plans for that day that involve food!

i just ended my 12th day of water-only fast and i feel great.
i have so much energy, no hunger and clear mind.

i also tried dry fast (no water) for 4 days (day 3-6), it was ok but i felt a bit weak compared to the water fast.

i can only recommend fasting, but fast only as long as you feel good,
it’s both mind and body exercise, you have to start small!

    Maybe a juice based fast?

I did one of those detox kits and only fasted for the first day. It did feel pretty good after I finished with the month, but I think that an all out fast would be more benificial. Maybe next time!

    Day 4 21 months ago

I’m on day 4 of my current fast, and I think it is going fairly well. Day one was pretty fine; day two was pretty awful, I was just gripped by hunger. On day 3, the hunger started dissipating, but I have felt very weak. Right now, I don’t feel especially hungry at all, so that’s nice. I think I’ve really been healing so far. I’m not sure how long I’ll do this one, but I’ll let you know.

It’s hard! You realize how much food is about variety and relieving boredom. I was never hungry, but I wanted to eat so badly!

Finished my second! 2 years ago

I’ve been starting out slowly with my fasts, so my body gets used to it. My first fast turned out to be 24 hours, and was made almost unbearable because my parnter Jeremy and I talked about food way too much. Afterward, I ate too much too fast and felt sooo sick. This past time, I did a 36 hour fast, and I hardly talked about food at all. I was much more at ease with myself and my body, and was able to do the whole thing quite easily. We broke the fast with juice, and I ate small meals at intervals throughout the day. I think it was really good for my body. My next one is a three-day fast!

I started a 36 hour fast today. I’m starting with shorter fasts and working up, because I want my body to get used to going for periods of time without food. I hope it goes well!
