    who did this for me!

this will be on my spring 'to do' list 4 years ago

this weekend while working on the gardening, gabby climbed over a section of railing on the front porch and it disintigrated under her. and for the record, she’s a little wisp of a thing. we’re really lucky she didn’t get hurt, between the rotten lower rail and rusty nails. so while i’m glad she was okay, i was not happy that i had to remove it just then.

the upper rails are okay, but the lower rails are all rotten. i am not happy at the way this was built, but it’s my problem now, and i will deal with it when i have a longer span of decent weather to do it in. spring. may. maybe june.

    dear santa,

for christmas this year, i would like a compound miter saw, some saw horses, and a really good cordless drill to supplement the wimpy one i have now.

i have been, for the most part, good. well, i’ve been okay. well there was that one time when…but…okay, i promise i’ll be better!

    love,
    ovoadmala

p.s. i’ll leave extra carrots for the reindeer…

a bigger project than the board repair to the back deck 4 years ago

it’s only 10 years old, but the railing is falling apart. they did a crappy job of building it. the floor is perfectly fine, since it’s a wrap around porch with a roof, but for some reason the railing is rotting. crappy wood that had been painted over.

right now it’s simple, but i’d like to make it decorative and look like this:

oh sure, if i had 3 grand i could just buy what i’d need from them, but i don’t…and i’d like to make it myself!
