I love this part from Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet:

And when you crush an apple with your teeth, say to it in your heart,
“Your seeds shall live in my body,
And the buds of your tomorrow shall blossom in my heart,
And your fragrance shall be my breath,
And together we shall rejoice through all the seasons.”

Pay attention to your food. 3 years ago

Now that I’ve reclaimed the dinning space in my home it makes it so much easier to sit down and be thankful for my food. I’ve been doing this for a few months now so I’m clearing this from my list.

As you can see from the pictures 3 years ago

By keeping a picture journal of my lunches (and recently added my breakfast pictures) I’ve really pleased with not only my selection of food but the way I prepare and serve food as well. I prefer to eat at home more than I did before because I really put alot of thought into what I fix…who knew being thankful to food could be so fun!

I think of it as an insult 3 years ago

when I throw away food that got lost in the “back” of the fridge. I’ve gotten better about remixing leftovers into new meals but today, I found some rotting stuff in the back of the fridge that I never used. I will make a conscienous effort to do better

    Here's a deep thought 3 years ago

    When preparing/eating food remember:
“You are taking a part of God Him/Herself into you (who are also a part of God’s creation).” Check out my yahoo 360 page for the rest of this thought. Next time I’m even tempted to go to a fast food place to get something other than water I need to remember that

still doing pretty well 3 years ago

about being more mindful while eating. I seem to slip on the weekends the most so I’ll have to figure a way to work around that.

    Remember Your Ancestors
You are here because your ancestors were. You exist because God gave you life through your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, and your ancestors since the beginning of time. Forever and ever, “unto Ages of Ages.” They weren’t perfect, and I bet you’re not either! Who is perfect? What is perfection anyway? What does it matter?! The point is we’re here…alive…together…experiencing God in all Glory.
Thanks be to those who came before us, and to those who will come after us. Let’s honor them by taking good care of ourselves and making the best of the lives we’re so amazingly graced with. Next time you dine, before you eat, say a prayer thanking God for your life, and for the lives of your family. Remember your Father and Mother, and your Grandparents and Great Grandparents. Thank God for them, and for you.

    Whoops 3 years ago

Well this weekend was so busy that I let my attention slip and ate in a rush in front of the tv. But today is a new day, so back to keeping the tv off while we had breakfast and lunch.

So far So good 3 years ago

I’ve gotten down to watching TV with only one meal (which is much better than I was doing!), which has added the bonus of me paying more attention to my food rather than mindlessly shoveling it in my mouth.

I'm breaking my habit 3 years ago

of eatting in front of the TV. I figure if I can give food the attention it requires when I prepare it, I should do the same while eating.
