Abigail has adopted a little Callie!
Okay, time to go back to the gym. I’ve been gone for three weeks – one in the hospital, and two gone to being in wraps. Now that I’m in sleeves all the time, I’m good to go and need to get back into it. I’ll be there on Friday afternoon.

Uphill hikes
Parking for work is far from the building, and to get to work from there is a five-block hike up the hill. It’s good for me, I can tell, because I’m out of breath at the end. I want to get in the habit of parking there every day, but there are days when a parking space is open closer to the building and I cheat.

Finding time
Now that I’m working every day, it’s hard to find time, and I don’t put that much effort into setting time aside. I find myself wishing all the time that I had a treadmill at home so that I could watch TV while I was on it instead of just watching TV in bed … but would I do that? I don’t know. Hmph. I’m thinking of going back to Curves again.

Let me just say first of all that this is a reasonable goal, totally, depending on what counts for exercise. I tend not to count stuff like going bowling or shovelling snow or walking round the mall for three hours, while they might sort of count in that on days I wasn’t doing that stuff, I was sitting on the couch or taking a nap. By my standards, I hit about 3-5 times a week of doing real, honest-to-goodness exercise for a block of time during the day. But I’ve tried to add some stuff to my daily routine, so that even on “lazy days” I’m doing something. I do pushups against the wall when I’m in the shower, and I do at least a few yoga poses every day. I do think the little things make a difference, even if just mentally.

So far, I’m doing very well with this goal. Since it’s one of my “new year’s resolutions”, I’ll be keeping it till next January. I won’t necessarily post every day about my progress, but I am keeping a paper record of what I did every day so that I make sure I meet the goal.
