There is just no way I’m fighting with dead branches and bush debris when it’s 30-40C every day non-stop. That’s just silly.
If there’s a bushfire I don’t think it would matter much. There’s trees right up to our back fence and it’s not much of a stretch to our house. You’d fight it with the hose or you’d leave.

It’s a slow process pulling our yards back into some order. I had to haul a couple sizable gum tree branches for dismembering, pick up smaller branches and sheets of bark and yank weeds just so the back-yard is ready to be mowed.
There was a rogue bougainvillea that wanted to escape over the back fence into the bush so I ‘pruned’ it and its 15mm spikes. To the stump :)
And then this morning I didn’t see the last porch step down as I was taking the washing out and I took an ungraceful tumble and managed to really graze the top of one foot and a knee. I haven’t grazed my knee for years and years, and the top of your foot is one place you really don’t want to graze as there’s not much there.
So that will be smarting for a few days at least. Don’t know how I’m going to get my shoes on for work tomorrow. I can’t even wear my lazy sandals because they cross over the graze, right on the bridge of my foot. All I can wear are thongs (aka flip-flops).
I’m not happy Jan.

Our front and back yard are in desperate need of some attention (in the form of secateurs, a chainsaw, a whipper-snipper, a lawn-mower and good old fashioned weeding).
We actually have a well established front yard, besides the fact it has run a little wild. And the backyard is actually dangerous at the moment in bushfire season with all the debris and leaves that require clearing. Should probably clip a few branches also.
In fact, the whole place needs serious attention before the weeds rule. It’s just hard to keep them at bay.
But I would like nothing more than to have maintained yards so I can focus on keeping a lemon tree alive! It’s a lot of work though, and we just don’t have many visitors, so there’s little external motivation, and my otherhalf isn’t big on gardening.
It would just be really nice though… just going to take a step at a time…
