Sitcom is something I must write, I love them to bits. And i think I can write, I know I can. I will!!
Many years ago, I wrote 2 episodes of a sitcom set in the kitchen of a restaurant and the notes for further episodes. When I recently reread it, some of the jokes still made me laugh.
It takes the place of a diary of those days, 20+ years ago, when I worked in restaurants.
I do have an idea for another that I could use some of the original one in. I’d love to write a sitcom again one day.
. Would any body be able to give me any ideas for a sitcom? i just need a general setting and type of humor. Thanks.
p.s :dont worry, i wont be actually writing it. just planning one.
Tomorrow my best friend and I are finally writing our sitcom that we have been talking about doing for 2 years.
we have so many ideas, will be ace writing them all down and seeing the result!
Quite excited.
I’ve wanted to write a sitcom for a long time, primarily because of the pure dross that is on UK screens these days. Yes, it’s a case of ‘I Can Do Better’, but when the best comedy on TV is repeats of shows that were on years ago it’s a damning inditement of the current state of the genre.
The idea for the sitcom has been playing on my mind for around three years, and will be directly based on a job I did for about a year. Because of the nature of the job the turnover of employees was high, and not one of them was normal – indeed, I came to the conclusion that you have to be slightly strange to do the job – so there are a wealth of characters to draw upon.
I’ve already started writing my outline for the show – the characters, locations and episode synopsys. I’ll continue with this for the next week or two (I want to make sure everythign is in place before writing a single line of dialog) then it’s on to the fun stuff.
Wish me luck :)
I’ve seen my fair share of sitcoms. I know how they work. I think I can write one. My idea takes place in college, so that give me two years to write it, buy some equipment, develop a website, and release it onto the internet with hope of someone, anyone watching it.
You should too!

They also have a lot of really interesting information about how cable subscribers have actually been paying for Public Access for several year.
I may add getting public access in Philadelphia as a separate goal.
Now to work on time management….
As I start a script-writing course next semester that will gear me to think more like a script/screen writer. Right now I’m stuck on the entire scene thing, believing I have to set it all up for the reader, etc.
