It was up on my design wall for ages before I finished it. It was well worth it though. You’ve picked lovely colors. I’ll upload a pic of mine.

I’m proud that we are continued to meet
even though the school year has started
I got some work done on Autumn leaves
even though I was somewhat tired…
Bonnie came over and we worked on our quilt. She only has two blocks to go on her “Freddie dot com” quilt. I managed to get six more blocks to the halfway stage (before I sew down the applique).
This gives me a total of about 14 at this stage. I guess I better get the sewing machine ready!
and we worked on our quilts again. I have twenty six blocks made and about 8 half-done. There is so much little handwork on these quilts that even ironing them to their paper pattern takes considerable time. I cut all the fat 1/2’s that I got at Wal Mart into the requisite 9inch squares. Bonnie gave me some fat 1/4’s from fabric that she bought last weekend. If I use all the squares I have cut now, I would probably have two or three quilts! Ahh well, I will find other places to use the leftovers!
Bonnie came over for our Wednesday quilting time. I worked on my Autumn leaves quilt blocks. Since I hadn’t made a whole lot this week, I spent alot of time today, while listening to my ipod.
working on the fabrication of the blocks, all the ironing is tedious, but with the new little sessors, it goes more smoothly. I want to have a whole bunch finished so that when Bonnie comes tonight, I will have quite a few to just “sew”. Yesterday, when I was in Vallejo, I went to Hancock Fabrics and found some more golds to marry to my greens and browns.
and we worked on our quilts. I worked on my “Autumn Leaves” quilt blocks. I have completed twelve all together. Only 36 more to go!!!
and spent some more time cutting nine-inch squares of both lights and darks. I cut two and used the iron to make two more blocks ready to be appliqued. I will do the sewing tommorrow night (quilting night with Bonnie). I have been buying a huge amount of fat quarter that easily make four nine-inch square with a strip left over. I bought a large amount of fat quarters on ebay, but only some of them are useful for this project, because I am trying to use browns and jewel tones.
Now that I’ve finished the blocks for the hummingbird quilt, I still want that feeling you get as you put the quilt blocks together. This is my first applique quilt and I think it’s really super. I have two blocks made and four more almost completed. This one will take 48 blocks total. I hope to finish both quilt blocks by the time it’s time to go back to school. I need to find a long arm quilter in the area that rents her machine by the hour. Just the other day, I read an article about this woman who was 85 and she still made 20 quilts a year!!!! Amazing!
