by Angie Sage, I like the Septimus Heap books, the character are cute, the stories fun and exciting, to sum it all up: the books are well written and I´d recommend them to anyone who likes reading childrens fantasy books.
forgot who wrote the book, was not that well written, but a nice and easy read in between.
“leap year” by Peter Cameron, very good book about people, their relationships, how they begin, end and everything inexplicable that goes on between human beings. definitely recommend the book!
Flying carpets, magic, fights between djinns and men taking place in the desert separating Samarkand and Bagdad. Two Brothers, a beautiful woman with poisonous blood, magicians, monsters, magic, this book is just as good as the first one. I can´t wait until the third and last part is published. Unfortunately I have to wait until September…. maybe I´ll just listen to the audio book version until then, the narrator has an amazing voice and the background music is amazing ^^
by Paul Robert Smith
I only picked up the book because of its title, and the cover looked good. In the end I bought it, sat in my doctors waiting room grinning, barely containing my laughter (funny sound coming out every once in a while) and then finishing it this morning.
Nothing to heavy but definitely not stupid, it´s treating life as it is, finding the tragic situations funny in a way that´s actually not funny at all. But perhaps this is the only way to treat life, with wonder and a smile…
A great summer read!!!
I read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson… I didn’t actually rate it as much as I thought I would. The murder plot was interesting if a little crazy, but I found all the stuff about the magazine back story just boring to be honest.
I try to read a lot, that means I like to read a lot whenever I find a good book, which is kinda hard I suppose. I always want to tell people that I´ve read a great book recently, which is okay, if it wouldn´t be for the fact that I´ve already forgotten the name (maybe this is me getting old^) so I decided to simply write down the books I´ve read so i can remember which ones were good, which to remember or to forget and maybe find an author to take a closer look at….
Books I´ve read so far this year that I can think of:
- “Somnia” by C.Marzi
- “Fabula” by C.Marzi, both were great, though I liked Fabula better, I seem to always run across a new book from this guy whenever I seem to be falling apart or something´s changing and I need some cheering up from exceptional books…
- The Valley by J. Stroud
- Breakfast at Tiffany – T.Capote
- Bongo Europe D.Wittenborn (hilarious, I loved it, short but not too short, you should read it when you need a good laugh but nothing too silly)
- Zoe also by D.Wittenborn, great, a little sad sometimes and maybe some kind of tragedy of our time, but with a smile underneath it all
- One day this pain will be good for you by P.Cameron fascinating, that guy is a lot like me… almost to a creepy degree!
- Andorra also by P.Cameron, this guy just has an amazing way of writing
- The pinhoe egg by Dianna Wynne Jones, there´s nothing like a good childrens fantasybook on a rainy weekend
- the castle in the air also by Dianna Wynne Jones, same as above^
Absolutely brilliant… I bawled my eyes out at the end and my boyfriend thought I was a weirdo when I phoned him still crying to tell him about this fabulous book.
