After living in the same town as my Grandma for four years in college, I admittedly did not make enough time to see her in that time. It is still something that definitely brings up some regret in me, even though I did maintain a very rigorous schedule in that time and my Grandma always understood and even encouraged me to keep focused on school.
My grandmother is an extraordinary woman and spending time with her has always been one of my favorite things. Since I have now moved 100 miles North, finding time to see her has gotten increasingly difficult.
I made this goal after I received a stamp container and a roll of stamps from her from Christmas. She told me that just happened to like the dispenser, but it really caused something to click in my head. I really had no excuse, especially as she has a phone and email (even facebook, for that matter), but for some reason—sending letters feels like a much nicer and cooler (old school!) way of communicating. It also gives me an excuse to include photos or little drawings for her to enjoy.
The idea of writing letters has also made me really excited about stationary & letterhead design, specifically using letterpress. It’s giving me a great excuse to be a bit more creative. I am going to try to keep track of my progress on this goal here so I remember to do it!
