I have become really good at giving hugs to everyone in my family, at least once a day and sometimes more. I really love them and I am so grateful.
I have never been a person comfortable with intimacy. But actions say more than words. It is so silly, I can only remember one time I have hugged my best friend, and we have known each other for 17 years!
Closeness is scary, but oh so important. I want to be a loving person. I have to hug my friends more often to show that I care about them, appreciate them. Of course I will use the old fashion words to describe my gratitude as well.
I have everything you could ask for: a roof, a comfortable bed, food every day, health and a family who loves me. I do appreciate it, but not as often and as much as I should.
Working in healthcare has made me remember every day how lucky I am. I just wish that I didn’t have to se people suffer to be able to do that.
I’ve made a point to thank people when I’m feeling… well… thankful. Sometimes it elicits curious little “why”s from the thanked individual. When a reason is given, it almost always draws a smile. That itsy bitsy little gesture is so worth my little bit of effort.
So many people do so many things to make my life the great thing it is. I love my life so much and yet I tend to forget to take the 5 seconds to say thank you to people like organizers, GMs, people who make me food, people who take my order, people who help me move my things, people who love me.
I am committed to showing the Universe more appreciation.
