and loved it. The apples were delicious! Can’t wait to make a pie.
How to pick Apples
How I did it: One early morning, after meeting friends for breakfast, my wife and I drove out to one of the orchards about an hour from our house and spent about an hour climbing trees to pick about a half bushel of apples.
My wife and I were out quite late in the season and we still had no trouble filling our baskets. About a month later and we're still enjoying our apples.
And believe me, fresh picked apples taste nothing like the ones you buy in the grocery store!
Lessons & tips: Like I said above, don't be afraid to climb high in the trees (check
with the orchard owner first!) to get some of the apples which are
harder to get at. These are some of where the best apples are hidden
because people don't typically get high enough.
People doing this are also doing these things:

and we didn’t overdo it with apples. Picked some 4 varietals: Fuji, Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, and a mystery dark red one. They also had fresh picked Asian pears, so we got some of those. It was a wonderful farm, organic, and just off the Gravenstein highway. I love it up there!
since living in Michigan. We’re planning a trip up north this weekend. I can’t wait!
Despite atypical apple-picking weather (in the high 80s!), we had a great time picking Jonathan apples today. The trees looked beautiful – the branches were loaded with ripe fruit. As a bonus, raspberries were also in season and growing nearby.
Tomorrow, I’ll probably make lots of apple pie filling (and freeze most of it to use throughout the fall) and apple-oat bran muffins.
I did this with my mother when we visiting Northern California. It was fun and we got tons of apples for a very good price. I would suggest doing it in fall.
