ReelJim Ugh....
I’ve been doing this for many years (I eat a lot of Japanese and Chinese food), so it comes pretty naturally now.
I do still drop things in my lap now and then, though… apparently just to remind myself not to get too cocky.

How I did it: an old friend of mine was chinese and she would frequently take me to china town before our FIT classes that we took together in manhattan. I did this and achieved mediocre skills. I’ve since forgotten however and need to go over it again.
that one girl knows that all big changes are made one small decision at a time!
i’m not even sure what we were eating. i remember though, sitting at emily’s house,we must have been 6 or 7, in the kitchen, using her parents chopsticks. i’m guessing they were from japan because i know her mom spent some time there. it’s a skill like riding a bike though, i forgot that i can do it, until it’s mentioned or they are offered, and wham, it’s forefront, and i’m the only one that can successfully eat my dinner.

I think I have fulfilled this goal because I ate an entire meal with my chopsticks, and I was pretty good. :)

After being in China for a while, I’ve gotten pretty used to this. Though certain impracticalities still remain. Using them to shovel rice is one, so is trying to slurp or move substantial amounts of long noodles. However, I use them with relative ease. I have a fork in my apartment, but I never use it—I always go with the chopsticks.

Accomplished this tonight when we were eating Thai food…yet I had to read the instructions first! But, being an amateur at this, I’m going to keep this goal on here until I feel I can eat adequately without reading the ‘how to’ instructions first.
Well I like Asian food and if you like Asian food you must know how to use chopsticks.
It was funny to be the only “asian” person in the table and not know how to use chopsticks. Now I do and it’s great! It’s a fun way to “play” with your food without feeling guilty.
