If your good enough to know what makes a decent, catchy tune in the charts, with artistic lyrics to match, then go for it. Know your strengths. I know my songs can rival the mainstream easily.. I wouldn’t bother if I knew they didn’t have a chance.

You can write the most amazing lyrics, but never get discovered. It is all down to luck most of the time in the music business, you can be the more talented then anyone out there but end up penniless.

That often scares people off but I am determined to make it as a singer/songwriter or musical producer.

I write the songs....uh, no...I write the lyrics! 4 years ago

I would like to become a successful songwriter. I currently write lyrics without music. I really don’t know how to write music anymore. Apparently, when I was in elementary school, I knew how to write a little music. Anyway, what is a successful songwriter? To me, it means writing songs (lyrics & music, or just one of them), selling them, and having enough copies sold that:

1) The royalties will bring a nice income
2) I’m able to get an advance for other songs that I write
3) I make enough money that I don’t have to work an extra job
4) Famous singers will ask me to write songs for them
