find little ways to amuse myself that do not require money

i haven’t looked at the value of my rrsp portfolio in like… 2 years.

considering the current economic slump, i may tomorrow be reviewing… what… 40% of it’s original value?

definitely a good thrifty way to experience a few moments of sheer horror (if u’re in search of that sort of experience).

on the other hand, if u factor in the loss, that might actually be quite an expensive way to amuse oneself.

the other night on our drive back to my sweetie’s house we came up with a simple game.

the registration plates of the passing cars have 3 letters in them (well, most of them). totally out of the blue my hun read one of them as we drove, and then he came up with a phrase consisting of words starting with the 3 letters.

fpe became first person ever
maa became my autistic aunt
ftp became, well, ftp (how lame, i know…)
dsk became deadly secrets kill

etc.

then i thought that each phrase might be a good starting point for a short story. da man agreed, but we didn’t have time to continue into the short story phase. perhaps during a longer driving trip.
