Am not doing the oly next weekend…work has been insane lately (60+ hours a week), and I want to make sure I’m in decent shape to finish. Also, I don’t want to be injured again. However, there is still one in Georgia that I am doing in May, in one of my favorite places in the world! I should be in better shape then, and even if something comes up, the course is fast and flat, so it should be doable…a good first international distance.

How I did it: I wasn't doing this race to win/place. I just wanted to finish. So I tried to run 3 times a week, bike twice a week, and swim twice a week. Running is my weakest sport, so I imagine you would want to do something different if that wasn't the case. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I started out with a lesser goal (sprint triathlon) and gave myself enough time to make sure I was comfortable with the individual distances for each discipline. After I had one sprint race under my belt I did a few more until I felt ready to set the bar a bit higher and aim for an 'oly'.Again I built up my training until I was comfortable doing the distance in each discipline so that putting them together was not too intimidating. How I did it: I am 60 and I decided to get fit and the idea of triathlon holds a challenging appeal for me. I did some regular long runs and bike rides. I joined a local triathlon club and entered in club events. I had to walk some of the cycle hill sections. I was very slow but I just kept going. Read how I did it…

Hopefully that works out for me…I haven’t been training like I should, but hey, I’ve got a month left and a new bike…can’t be that bad, right? :)
I’ve done two sprint distance triathlons, now I want to do an olympic.
.9 mile swim
24.9 mile bike
6.2 mile run
My 3rd tri ever, and first oly. I didn’t train enough due to other commitments, and my time was at the back of the pack, but I had a beautiful day, beautiful course, great pictures, and great food.
Definitely harder than sprint distance, and a great learning experience.
My next goals will be to not just finish, but finish in a certain time.
I’d totally slacked off after my 1/2 marathon… well, slack may not be the right word. Been focused on other things. Wanted a break from training. Last night, I decided it was time to have a goal again, and I’ve signed up for an Oly in August.
Woo hoo! Time to get training again! Rode yesterday, for the first time in months really. It’s pouring out now or I would have gone for a run tonight. Hoping to tomorrow instead. Then I’ll get into my rotation again.
Have done olympic distance tri, just under 5 hours; run was extra slow, but I did it !! goal is now 4:30 by enmd 2009.

Just a couple of leg weights to wake them up and then 45 minutes cycling and 30 minutes running on a treadmill today. New shoes seem to be doing their job without causing problems. Time for a longer run in a few days.
Found how to get the power output and lots of other info from the machine used for cycling. Now I have something to compare with other cyclists.

Tried a little harder cycling; shortened the run from the other day when something was triggered in one knee after the end of the run. But ran at the same pace and a bit faster. New shoes feel fine.
