I don’t know why I didn’t give myself credit for the one I did last spring, so I’ll go ahead and mark this off. If I want to do another one with more events attached to it, I’ll be more specific with that goal! That’ll clean this baby off.

I’ve only recently gotten the urge to do an adventure race. I don’t know about the rest of the world but here in NZ they’re pretty tough usually (although there are some ‘toned down’ events). My dad has been doing them for quite a few years in a team and he does really well – about 90% of the time they win which is amazing. Now my brother is into it and of course being the natural athlete that he is (like dad) he does pretty well as well. I used to think they’re insane for doing it but now I’ve started to get keen (I still do think they’re insane though).
I mostly only run for fitness, so I’m going to have to get up my bike skills, and do some kayaking and orienteering and get some bush skills sorted before I attempt anything.
I’m hoping I’ll be able to do one within the next year and a half.

I have selected an adventure race series to enter in the spring, started working on my mountain bike (it’s pretty trashed), and I have mapped out a trail run in the woods near my home.
The race series will take me all over the state and I can hardly wait!

I did have “train for an adventure race.” However, I’ve done several times a week over the last year—-so I’ll redefine the goal. However, I have to put it at the bottom since my goal is to do this in the late summer of 2008.

Did my first swim bike run day this morning-in about 8 years. I’m really tired but really enjoyed myself. The bike was off road, but the swim was in the pool. Great training.

In the last 30 days, I’ve worked hard at rowing, moutain biking and orienteering. Well, I guess it’s work. But where is that line between work and play anyway?

Volunteering at the 2005 Sea2Summit brought back my excitement for Adventure Racing. I use to watch Eco-Challenge for the adrenaline rush! But I was sad to learn that Eco-Challenge has now been dropped by Mark Burnet.
