I just got a tiny cast iron tea set and want to learn how to use it! Going along with my love for Asian culture naturally comes a want to learn more about their hot beverage of choice: tea! I know the basis of what I like and want, I just don’t know the names. With learning comes experimenting so I guess I’ll be saving my pennies to buy lots and lots of tea…maybe I’ll sell the gross ones on Ebay…?

but I definitely know more than I did before! I think learning is a lifelong process so I don’t know if I’ll ever be completely done with this goal, but I feel I have made sufficient progress to mark this as done. I like tea lots, and I like knowing that it’s good to brew green teas at a slightly lower temperature than black teas!

I’m definitely working on this goal. There’s this really cool place called the Teacup close to where I live, and I’ve been learning more about tea there. I really want to be able to describe different types of tea in a way that makes sense. Today I wrote in my blog about my new favorite tea…Pomegranate Oolong made by Harney & Sons. This is what I wrote: “It’s pomegranate taste is light and vibrant and kind of sweet mixed with nice, slight floral undertones that complement but not overpower. Other pomegranate teas I’ve tasted have a heavy, flat, almost dead pomegranate flavor and really just don’t compare. I’m trying to learn how to identify and describe different flavors I taste in tea. I’ve never been really good at it, but going to the Teacup and listening to their descriptions certainly helps.”

I finally found the book I was looking for concerning tea in my mess for a bedroom. It contains tons of info about tea and I’m really looking forward to reading it. I’m really exciting about taking this first step!
