How I did it: I just followed my plan. I managed my project well, talked in advance to my bosses and let them know of my plans. They were not supportive, since I had to take many leaves. I exhausted all my leaves for writing the exam. For managing the next big thing, i.e, my marriage, I had to take Leave without Pay. Overall, I think I managed the whole process well, though the exams didn't go that well. Read how I did it… 3 years ago

After a lot of deliberation and swaying from one side to another, I have decided that I am going to take the Civil Services Exam this year only. This is going to be the toughest challenge of my life, but that is what makes it all the more exciting. I will have to manage three major things together:
1.My job(from which I will have to take leave for 6 months after completing the current project with utmost committment)
2.My marriage, which is also due to be finalised shortly.
3. The Civil Services examination itself.
It will require a lot of planning and determination, but I am gearing up for it. I have spent lots of days just whining and crying. No more of that now. Now its time to stand up for myself and execute my plans to perfection. God be with me. 4 years ago

Phew!!!..I have finally had the guts to write this goal which has been bugging me ad-nauseam ever since I failed in my third attempt at the Civil Services Examination, not to mention that I had failed in the first two attempts too. It has been painful to carry this burden of repeated failures for the past 8 months. I desperately want to rewrite this history of failures, but I also feel very down and demoralized at the same time.
For the uninitiated, Indian Civil Services is an All-India level examination which is conducted every year to induct the most intelligent and hardworking graduates of India into the top posts in the Government Services. These Civil Servants get to manage the top most affairs of the government, right from the administration of a district till policy making at the highest echelons of the government. I harbored( and still do) a dream of being able to contribute to the progress of my society by becoming a Civil Servant. I have got just one more attempt left at it, and coupled with the past failures, the going has got just a little tougher. I hope I will soon be able to overcome this period of despondency and bounce back with my preparations. 4 years ago
