How I did it: Since this has been a problem for so long, it's heaped with all this extra tension. I mean, if you don't want your kids to go through what I have done; don't make mealtimes a war. Don't refrigerate meals and offer them for the next night's tea UNTIL they eat their veggies, your kids are just not going to go with it. Or fight them all the way and end up paying for Hypnotherapy sessions for them later on as they now have a phobia, which was at first a general dislike. Your call.
Anyway (went off on a tangent there), I still can't eat most vegetables unless they are diced as small as possible, but at least I'm getting the nutrients. As for fruit, I've always liked fruit better and eat lots of it. I just started adding things, as blended or diced up as I could, and adding them to strong tasting sauces. I have still not ventured onto the likes of broccoli or spinach, in fact I'm staying away from all leafy greens (and I know they're the best for you), I'm just ready yet.
Lessons & tips: Although I mention Hypnotherapy, I wouldn't try it unless you're at your wits end. I was, did 2 sessions (which put me back quite a way, they're not cheap), but it never really stuck. I did start eating more veg, but I soon got tired of not liking any of the things I was trying. It turns out texture is a big problem for me, so blending is best.
Resources: Start small, add one new vegetable or fruit to a meal you already like, and chop it small if texture is something you're not keen on. Add more as you go along, and good luck!
