How to pay off my house

 "Mixed up. We've outgrown the house and it still needs work but it will feel good to not throw money at interest payments."
How I did it: We got a neighborhood lending program and it cut about 5 years off of our debt. I think we'd have been done last year but our condo association has really high assesments. Lessons & tips: Don't overbuy. Who you tryin' to impress? Also, after a couple of years look at where you overspend - our assessments are high, we rent a garage and a storage unit - we should've cut down on those things. Resources: Two years ago an accountant pointed out that our interest was too low to itemize exemptions and our interest spent was basically useless to us. We moved money around and finished the mortgage |

I can’t believe we’re pretty much on Baby Step 5 of Dave Ramsey’s plan. We’re debt free and have our 6 months of expenses in a money market account. We don’t have kids yet, so we’re not saving for college. It’s time to pay extra on the house.
We want to enjoy life a bit again too, so our current plan is to live off DH’s income and use at least half of my income on extra payments for the house. I don’t make a ton, but every bit helps.

I have been hearing lately that there are programs out there that I can use to pay off my mortgage within 7 to 10 years. Where can I find information on this without paying through the nose for it?
