How I did it: I don't play guitar extensively or even regularly anymore. I don't have any real skill at it, I just play a few chords for church music or folk songs. Still I wanted to be able to vary my strumming while accompanying myself singing. It just took a while for me to feel comfortable enough to have my hands do something in a different rhythm than my singing.

I haven’t played in a while, so to get my skills back up to speed I’m playing from the young people’s glory and praise hymnal. Once I’m really comfortable with that I’ll move back to the folk stuff I’m less familiar with.
I am so motivated to play and sing Holy Spirit by Third Day. Its such a hot song and it’s a hard one for me. HECK, I’ve been playing and singing Brown Eyed Girl for years and it’s still hard !!
