sleeperwithin is revamping the way he uses this site
Its an all girl class but good to slow down and work on basics
Today I Learned:
- Forehand – hold racket in proper grip so that the racket faces the ground – start low and go high with follw through, keep your arm relaxed
- Backhand – different grip – the right hand is relaxed, all work done by the left hand – bend the right wrist to get the racket in the correct starting position. Low to high just like a left handed forehand
- Keep your head still when making the shot
- Let the ball come to you, dont run in so much
- Approach shots – hit the ball when its at the highest point to make it easier
- Volleys – reach out and touch the net with your racket, then take two big steps back, this is the proper position for volley shots. No swinging, punch the ball with your racket. Try to hit in behind the other player at the net in doubles. When running in stop, when the other player contacts the ball so that you can move side to side. When moving right the left foot comes accross, when moving left, the right foot so that you have a side on profile when hitting the ball – this gives you greater manouverability and a more secure shot
- Smashes – stand side on, reach up with your left hand until the moment before follow through
- Serving – Aeoraplane, scratch your back high five, cut your toes off. Keep your right arm bent on preperation, its not like bowling, keep your right arm relaxed
