Fom November through February, I trapped at a terribly overrun slum which was scheduled for demolition. I captured, neutered and in this case, due to the danger of the location to the cats, relocated so many cats I lost count. Some of the cats were even adoptable. the results were far greater than I ever expected.
I moved this year and was able to find others willing to continue the work in the area. I wouldn’t consider it an exaggeration, due to the prolific nature of cats, to say that I, with the help of the organization that provides the neuters and spays, have likely prevented over a thousand births for this year alone due to my direct efforts. Add this to the efforts of the many others in the field, and the suffering of millions of homeless animals has been mitigated or prevented altogehter. It only takes a few people here and there to solve the problem. Anyone who cares enough can do this.

We trapped and neutered/spayed nine more cats Sunday night. Eight adults and one kitten who will hopefully be tamed. This makes a total of seventeen at the site. There are a few more to neuter or spay, but I believe we have the majority now. A couple more trips out should bring the population expansion to a halt, and there is someone who will make sure they all receive proper care. I know of a couple of other sites that need to be done as well. I wish everyone knew how simple it is to solve the overpopulation problem. It is hard work, but very worthwhile.

My first attempt to trap cats for trap-neuter-return resulted in catching only raccoons, which I released, of course. My second attempt was altoghether unproductive.
I went trapping with a friend last night. We caught eight ferals, two of which are kittens young enough to tame, with luck. The other six went to be spayed/neutered this morning. I’m a little tired and distracted today but it was very much worthwhile. I hope I have gained enough experience to do this successfully now. There are so many homeless animals out there that anyone who can help really needs to do so.
