4 years ago i chopped off my hair and donated 14 inches to Locks of Love. This year i chopped it off again and donated 20 inches. 6 months ago
But now that I have “virgin” hair for the first time since Junior High, I can finally do this! Yeah, it’s less than a quarter of an inch long now, but it grows! ;) 10 months ago
Went after work today and got it done. FYI, the organization requires ten inches of hair. Depending on how much you want or have to give, this can be a large amount or not so large. For me, the ten inches left me with a very short crop of hair, but not too short to be impossible to work with. From a pixie cut to past my shoulders and my mid-back area, I know it will grow back in no time at all.
Now, someone is going to get to enjoy my blonde curls as much as I have! I’m very happy I did this. Will I donate again? I don’t know. For now I’ll say no, because I will probably want to experiment with my hair as it gets long again, and try different cuts, styles, perms, etc. But for now, I’m quite happy with my donation and I’m proud I got to help someone.
Thanks to my former co-worker Meri for cutting my hair. I’m so happy she’s got a great job working at the salon two doors down from where we used to work! ♥ 11 months ago
Yea, I tried layers and while I thought I liked it, I am just not convinced. I’ve chopped off as much of the layers as I can and I’m growing it back out to one length. It’s too short for my liking right now but I have to take good care of it so the ends don’t get too nasty. I’m using that “Long Term Relationship” product by Herbal Essences in hopes that it will keep my ends from splitting. But for some reason it doesn’t seem to be growing as fast as it used to. :( Perhaps I don’t need to trim it so frequently… I had a major cut December 31, 2011… then I trimmed it mid February, then another trim at the beginning of April… It’s now the middle of June and while I “should” trim it again, I think I’ll hold off until August. 12 months ago
So I gave half of it away. :) 16 months ago
How I did it: It was well worth it, hair grows back and why not rock an awesome pixie :) Go to your hairdresser, have her cut the hair, have a few styles in mind and do it! It is a great experience helping others :) Read how I did it… 19 months ago
How I did it: I grew my hair out for a year, found a good salon and went for it! What a blast! I finished with 15"!!!
