Need to get measured. — 4 days ago
I really need to find someone to measure my ponytail. I think I’m halfway there, but its really hard to tell on my own.

Worth doing!
It is the most rewarding feeling knowing that I am helping someone less fortunate. Yes, I will miss the long flowing hair (even though it was so long it was getting in the way) but i am soooo glad I did it!
my grandma had breast cancer earlier this year, but she was fortunate to not lose her hair during treatment. I wanted to help those who lost their hair.

I cut my hair off today for locks of love. I found out at my salon, if your hair is NOT color treated, the minimum donation length is 6 inches. I cut off 7 inches today and I’m mailing it to LoL tomorrow! I feel great just having all that hair gone, BUT even BETTER knowing that someone is going to feel better because of their wig made from my hair. :) kinda creepy, yet heart warming at the same time.
DO IT!!
Worth doing!
so i finally made it into a salon with the help of several friends. we made it one great girls-out-getting-our-hair-did trip. this was my first time in a serious salon, so i wasn’t sure what to expect. i had a very nice stylist Piper, who really helped figure out a cut. she easily lopped of my ponytail at 14inches. i’m sure she could have squeezed two more inches, but i understand she wanted to give her some room to work with. i am quite pleased with the results. now i wonder if i can maintain it.
but my hair is in its ziplock bag with the filled out form. it’s ready to be mailed out. i am super stoked to get it in the mail.

I stopped by the hairdresser yesterday, my hair is only 7” long. Locks of Love needs atleast 10” to make a wig – so I have about 4-6 months more to go before I can cut my hair!

wicked long hair
so i cut it
it freaked me out a bit and i cant wait for it to grow back
10 inches was a lot
but i gave to a good cause
so its DEFINITELY worth doing

I had set a personal goal of not cutting my hair til Kasey Kahne got his next Cup win. After he won the All-Star race, my friend Sara said I had to cut my hair because she felt it counted. The following week, he went onto win the Coca-Cola 600, which solidified the need to cut my hair. The week after I went on vacation, I went and got it done and found out the place where I get my hair cut sends donations in so I didn’t even need to send it out on my own.

it’s so hot having long hair at this time! i end up having it in a ponytail most of the time. just a few more months and i’ll probably be trimming the tips to stimulate the hair growth. i want to try and donate more than 10” so someone can have some long locks :b
having had the same hair since 4th grade, and with the summer already hitting hard, i decided to take some weight off my hair and layer it! it’s still pretty long, but at least it looks like i care about how i look, and i’m not projecting the image that i’m so low maintenance that i just don’t bother to do anything with my hair at all… it looks nice. it’s going to take some time to get used to but i think as my hair grows longer that the style will look better. i’m going for something like either sandra bullock or nicole kidman in practical magic. so, this goal is probably going to be put on hold for about 4 years… :(
