I want to donate my hair. Then some person that need it more then me can have it I am trying to get it done. I hope I can donate my hair very soon….
How I did it: I CHOPPED OFF 11 INCHES OF HAIR AND MAILED THAT BITCH.my sister in law has a license in hair shtuff and i found an address online and an application for locks of love so she put my hair in a ponytail and chopped it then threw it across the room. i had a silent heart attack but everythings ok now Read how I did it…
How I did it: Liked it long, but I grew it out much longer than normally I am comfortable with. I had to have 12 inches! My husband cut it off for me at home, and I mailed it away. It was really nice to get the postcard in the mail a short time later. It is incredible to think that my hair is helping a child somewhere feel better about their appearance. Read how I did it…
Asheia is enjoying her new obsession!
How I did it: I never ever ever cut my hair. When I was 19 I was sick of it being so long, I decided to cut it all off. My mom (who was completely against me doing it) suggested that if I'm going to just throw my unwanted hair on the ground then I sould donate it. I went online and found a local salon that participated in the locks of love program, called them, made an apointment, and did it! It was great that I got a new look while helping someone else. I donated about two years ago (october ‘07 i think?) and it’s almost time to do it again.
It was much more difficult this time around since I really wanted to cut (chop) my hair (off) several times and when I went in for ‘just a trim’ about 2 inches was cut off!
It takes forever, but I know it will be worth it! I have 10 inches to give now, but that would leave my hair by my chin (not a good look for me, I’m sure). I’m looking for the hair to sit right at my shoulders when it’s cut.
I’m thinking my hair will be ready to donate by October again. But hopefully before!

I’m planning on cutting my hair on Monday, the 29th. Hopefully that works out, and I’m looking forward to hair that’s easier to manage. It’ll go from being pretty long, to just at my chin level!
I found out last night that if you have treated your hair by streaks, color, perm, etc then you can’t do this. Bummer. I will always dye my hair since I get grey hair around my forehead! :(
i am only waiting for my layers to grow out before i chop it all and make it one length again. it’s so much easier to take care of when it’s one length. if anything at all i might put one or two small (but still chunky) layers towards the bottom of my hair but i don’t like the layering thing any more. now, if only my shortest layer would grow past my armpits already!!!
I donated 11 inches last week, even though I told her NO MORE than 10 inches. I was well attached to my hair so getting it chopped was hard. I decided I would donate it before the summer and was just waiting for it to get long enough. After the haircut I packed it up and mailed it off. I’m sad to report that it was not as satisfying as I wanted it to be and I won’t be doing it again. Especially after reading so many negative comments and a bit of research after the haircut.
I had a foot of my hair chopped off, now I just need to mail it to them!

Growing out my hair for Locks of Love is definitely an ongoing process and I am working on it every moment of my life. Currently my hair is pretty lengthy but not long enough to donate 10 inches without going into a crew cut. I’m hoping to donate my hair within the next year and a half at most.
I was thinking around this time next year or maybe around May next year when it’s starting to get a little hotter.
