I cooked everything for the right amount of time, nothing was past date, and it all tasted fine. However, all the these things did not mean that I wasn’t sick all throughout the night :(
Oh well. Cooking sometimes goes wrong and we learn from our mistakes. The next time I make hollandaise sauce, I’m eating it the moment it’s finished. Not a while later when the artichoke is ready.
We learn from our mistakes…hopefully.

I tried something new this morning, I added fresh raspberries into my normal bran muffin recipe. I think they turned out excellent, and I’m quite happy with the results. I’m using the muffin recipe from How to Cook Everything Vegetarian by Mark Bittman with the Bran Muffin modification, except I’m still using white sugar instead of one of the liquid sweeteners. I thought in this case, with the fresh berries, that I wouldn’t want any extra moistness. But next time, I’m totally using maple syrup. I’ve found Bittman’s book to be incredibly helpful in our recent conversion to Vegetarianism at the home-front. It’s easy to use and it includes many variations of each recipe so you can modify based on what you have on hand.
Yum!

Marrow Bones
The recipe was easy enough, just the bones in the oven for 20 minutes, add bread and sea salt, and eat! It was that simple, but next time I will make sure the marrow is cooked all the way through, pink marrow looks even more revolting that cooked marrow, and add parsley, shallots, and capers as a garnish.
A worthwhile cooking adventure! Easy too, though too fatty a dish for some people’s tastes.

Great recipe! Plus I think goat is adventurous enough for me to check off this goal.

I’ve been taught how to can jellies and jams! I even entered them in my county fair culinary exhibit and won one 1st place ribbon, one 2nd, and one 3rd! I also entered salsa, blueberry pie, which won 1st prize, and zucchini bread.
Lots of cooking!
