build a cat tree

They are so expensive in pet Stores and I believe I can make it for more than 1/2 the price or even less.

i want to have a cat tree for my cats, but they’re so expensive at stores. looking at them, it doesn’t seem too difficult to create one yourself (any my father-in-law does contruction and does his own home projects, he just made a really cool bird feeder) and if you design it yourself you can tailor it to what your cats need/want. i’ve got some ideas in my head of what i want already, i just need to draw it out for the most part.

i want it to be about as tall as me (i’m 5’1”), a few different perches including two either curved sort of like a half circle or bed-like perches at the top so both cats can be at the highest point if they want, a little box or tunnel, and definately some scratching posts. i’ll try to put up a picture once i have something sketched put, but i don’t have a scanner, so it would be a digital picture of the drawing…not /as/ good, but i’ve done it before and it works out okay. i noticed no one else has said anything about finishing the goal, so mabee i’ll be the first one.

and it’s perfect. The design is much simpler than the one we had planned out. It was fairly inexpensive, it is sturdy, and the carpet is plush. The cats love it!

to do this today and maybe tomorrow. We haven’t agreed on one design yet. Basically it’s going to be lower to the ground than the last one we built. We are hoping to incorporate several platforms and a ramp. It’s always fun to do a project together and we are both looking forward to it.

My newest project is to build a cat tree house.

Hopefully this will save on the other household furniture being torn to hell.

I want to build a cool cat tree for my cat. This will have a resting place at least 6 feet high and a little kitty condo about 2-3 feet off the ground. I’ve seen similar ones at the pet store, but they want over $250 for it. I think I can build it for about 25% of that price.
