So, it’s time for my run again. Today the group is doing 3 min running and 1 min walking for a total of 3K. May not seem like much, but let’s remember here we are talking about a couch potato.
Don’t really feel like going, but it’s only 3:30pm and the run is at 6:30pm. Also, I’m going out with some friends after the run and maybe I should consider all the crap I’ll be eating tonight and how that will affect my other goal.
We’ll see.

Elmeka is learning to breathe from her belly
On Monday, I ran (and walked) the Loop. For those who are not familiar, the Loop is a course in Philadelphia beginning at the Museum of Art and going down Kelly Drive, crossing the Falls Bridge and coming back up West River Drive. Its approximately 8.4 miles. And Monday, for the first time, I completed it. It was a weird experience and after I crossed the bridge, I began wondering “what did I get myself into?” My problem most of the time is that I get bored and the iPod doesn’t really do it for me all the time. So its difficult to stay focused.
At mile 7, my feet began to hurt. I was so close, yet so far from my destination that I couldn’t give up. Feet hurting and all, I played my power song, danced a little (people began honking at this point) and made my way to the final stretch back to my car. AAAAHHH! What a feeling that was!
Sunday…in two days…I will attempt my first half marathon. I am under prepared as the Loop accomplishment was the longest distance I actually attempted and I trained actively for all of 3 weeks since July. But as a part of my other goal (to finish most things I initiate) I am going to complete this race…even if I have to dance all the way to the finish line!

Can you believe there a class called learn to run? Turns out one foot in front of the other is not all it takes. They really should call this learn to love to run. I’ve done this one before and really enjoyed it, but not being an athelic person, it was easy to forget about once it was over. I really always wonder what it would take to run a marathon.
Now i’m back, i’m serious, and i want to go all the way. After all, I’ve never been just a tease ; )

Scarpo is thinking about whether to look for a new job
I’m 42 and have recently got into running. I’m quite athletic although haven’t done a lot of sport over the last few years. I started running to lose a bit of weight and improve my fitness. I’ve lost around 12lbs and have recently completed a 10k (6.2m) in 50 minutes and quite comfortably. I know that a marathon will be tough both in preparation and completing on the day – what I want to know is the feeling of crossing the finishing line worth it? Please help me :-)

Every time I run a Marathon I feel great and I lose weight. It’s easy to get into the habbit of doing it and it’s really fun!

Run/walk for 13:00 pace overall. Used my new Garmin watch to track HR. There is a lot of information you can track with that watch. I think I am getting in better CV shape (less quick to get out of breath) because of the spinning classes. Doing ok.
