And adventure in FUN. It isn’t easy, but it is a fun business where you get to really be creative and meet lots of other creative people. I have written several columns on comic book website Sequart.com with tips taken from my experiences. You can check it out here: http://www.sequart.com/columns/index.php?col=19&column=1216
I am always happy to answer questions.
Comic Shops are my favorite places to be. It’s not all bleachy-clean and cool for everyone. It’s cozy, but it gives you the chance to help out the folks in the community that really need a place to be. Set up a few tables and couches, have the comics set up on big, nice bookshelves, so people can actually find what they’re looking for, and milk crates full of back issues for the collectors. A smallish, trustworthy staff, and, y’know, build a community around it. Have a place for people to finally meet people and get to now each other, while enjoying a good read and having a coffee or something else delicious. That’s my vision people. And maybe I can sell a few copies of my book while I’m at it. Hey, I can dream, can’t I?
