Walk across the United States

I’ve had this thought in the back of my mind for the last few years. I thought this would be a great way to celebrate my upcoming retirement. I think this adventure is way bigger than I am….and I probably will not be able to do it…..but I did want to learn about it just in case things fall into place and I can try it.

me, my fiance’ and our friend rick decided that we are going to walk across the usa. we need places to stay along the way, even if its in a barn…we want to avoid spending the night outside too many nights seeing as there are way too many poisonous animals to count, and we want to see how many people will really help us.We are heading diagonally south, and then walking towards california, where me and matt will start a family, and rick wants to open a peircing parlor.
well, if anyone wants to help…just let us know, we will be posting our status as we go, and there is a myspace page in the works that will be put up before we leave so that people can follow our progress, my personal goal is to be in california for christmas…

I graduated HS with the intent of walking the US and maybe even the world. Unfortunately I let people convince me I should go to college instead. I ended up dropping out and got stuck with a whole bunch of student loans. I worked hard to pay off everything and get myself out from the control of anything. I kept my dream of traveling alive by climbing several 14000ft mountains in Colorado.

Greetings! My name is John E, from Colorado Springs, CO. I’m 21 years old and I’m finally hitting the road. I’m heading to the Florida Keys first then its up the East Coast, perhaps even the Appalachian Trail, then over to Washington and Oregon then down the West Coast. After that who knows. Maybe I’ll cross over to Europe or Asia. We’ll see when I get there.

I read an article the other day about people that have done this and I have not been able to get the idea out of my head. I am in the military and have done day long hikes with full battle gear, a rifle, a 50 lb pack and a radio. But this is a whole nother level of endurance. I love hiking and was planing a cross-country trip by car after I get out in 19 months; but this is way better of an idea to me. One of the people I read about in this article was a very old women. It took a year but she finished what she sat out to do. One thing I have learned in the military is that heart goes a lot further then strength.

Many of you are doing it for some reason. Many of the reasons everyone has already probably figured out a better way. why not just do it because you want to. MY name is bryant. i am 21 years old from small town owego,ny. i have throughout my life made mistakes and messed up real bad. but i want to prove to everyone i can do whatever i set my mind to. i wanna make this trip for everyone who has failed or anyone who wish they could have a second try in life. i want this to be the start of something for everyone not just me

I was thinking of planning a trip across the states to collect garbage along the roadway to show the impact an act of responsibility to the enviorment could bring.

I am a twenty-six year old English and Film student at Missouri Western. This summer the day after my last final I am going to take off walking with my Australian Shepherd Blue. I am going East until I get to the ocean and then either flying back or walking back I havn’t decided yet. If any one could give me advice so I don’t get my self killed or starve to death that would be great.

Well, I ahve this problem and when I think of something I want to do it NOW, not ‘sometime in the future’ So, hopefully, I can keep this dream of walking from Maine to California alive atleast unti I graduate high school, and am in control of my life.

I’ve always dreamed of walking across the US. I thought it just a pipedream until I met a guy who has done it many times. Mark D. (aka Perfesser Creekwater) has been a real inspiration.
