Buy a netbook.

so to speak: My computer crashed on the weekend because the CPU was overheated. The thermal compound paste seems to need replacement every 2 years or so. I installed an additional chassis fan, hoping to reduce the overheat problem… but I won’t risk that the next emergency shutdown is the final one.

Need to remind myself of backing up everything, especially my emails are a fragile thing.

I’m tired of my old, bulky, loud desktop computer. And I’ve been longing to have something portable for years, something I can take to the library or to the café or take it along on travels or just to my couch.
Since I love Ubuntu, it should be one that’s reported to do well under Linux.

First step: earn the money for buying it! Another motivation to sell some old tech stuff that’s messily lurking around my place.

I went to see it today and it is definitely what I am looking for! The guy in the shop told me it was the cutest laptop he has ever seen and I have to agree! So how could I resist a recommendation like that? ;-) Will go and buy it in the last week of June when I have a car available, so I don’t need to take it home on the bus or the tram. In any case it is going to happen this month!

I discovered yesterday that HP has brought a new 12,1 inch ultrathin fully loaded notebook on the market and I have decided that a fully equiped very light notebook is better than a still pretty heavy tiny but very girly netbook. I even have located it already at a shop and I am going to have a look at it tomorrow to see for myself if it is a good match for me. If it is, the decision is made, if not I will look further to see if there is something out there with a bigger screen and a CD ROM/DVD on board for a reasonable price. It did not buy the netbook yet because I was still trying to figure out how to get office on it. I know a lot of people do not like it but I use it every day so it is essential as is the light weight… Anyway, still working on it. Big decision!

today to test it out and to see how the special laque layer of both the mouse and the netbook look and most importanly feel. It’s nice! So either tomorrow or Thursday I am going to buy the actual netbook. I really look forward to having a small PC that I can carry easily and can use on trains and planes. If you lead the mobile life, you also need a mobile working tool and this is it! So to be continued in the coming days and then this goal will be completed!

I would like one so I can carry it with me to class and take notes.

It is really small, light and feminine! I don’t know why I love it so much but I do! So I will buy myself one and see it as a sign of my success right now! I deserve it!
