How I did it: It's a little bit silly that once you turn 16, you don't get your passport renewed again until you're 26. Mine wasn't technically up for renewal yet, but I look so different from when I was 16 that I thought it was high time to do it. The fact that fees go up after the end of the year was also an incentive, and the fact that the entire family is planning to go over to Germany to visit my grandmother next year.I printed the for… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I went to the US Postal Service website (http://www.usps.com/passport/) and printed the application. Once I had everything filled out, I went to my local post office to have my pictures taken. The post office attendant was very helpful. He took my picture, printed them and then gave me the necessary paperwork to mail my application (with delivery confirmation) and pictures to the processing center in Philadelphia, PA.&nb… Read how I did it…

How I did it: Just went to the police station one day, handed in my old passport, took a picture, signed some papers and that was it. Two days later I got my new passport in the mail :) So easy. Read how I did it…

How I did it: Canada has re-vamped their renewal process -- which makes a ton of sense. If you have a passport and the picture is close to the other picture you don't need to get all the signatures from a long list of people that you don't necessarily know when you are in your early 20s.You just fill out the form, get the horrid, unsmiling photo and drop it off and voila a few weeks later a nice shiney passport shows up in your mailbox. How I did it: Living in the US and having my passport expire before I could return to Canada made things a whole lot trickier for me. First they make you use a different form (I got rejected once for using the incorrect one).Next are the strict requirements for passport photographs (ex: Different picture size, "neutral" facial expression aka no smiling, photo has to show shoulders, clear image, etc etc), and I got rejected AGAIN for not meeting on… Read how I did it…

Today I printed the passport renewal form (DS-82) from the US Postal Service website. The renewal fee is $75.00 – now all I have to do is fill out the form and go get my pictures taken. Now that my hair is done, I may actually do this on Friday during my lunch break…we’ll see.

My passport is renewed, I can go on holiday!
I just called the post office to inquire about renewing my passport. It costs $75 and if I get the pictures taken at the post office there is an additional $15 fee – making the grand total $90. Now that I have the information, I will go down to the post office an pick up the application. After that, I’ll decide when I’m going to have my pictures taken and send it off for processing.
I’m definitely going to wait until I get my hair done before I take the pictures. I want my passport to have a nice picture of me since I’ll have it for the next 10 years.

It’s ready! Because of pending postal strikes my husband is going to pick it up from the office.
I find this outrageous, and forgive me if you disagree, but after a postal strike, they sometimes just shred ALL the mail, rather than deal with a backlog. So that was a risk I couldn’t afford. I know they did this in Italy a few years ago, and it has been mooted here.

I just want to move it into another more generic goal. But if I delete it I’ll also be deleting the 1 cheer it has and I’d feel bad for the person who kindly gave it to me. So it’s relegated to the ‘I’ve given up’ list unfortunately.
After all – of course I can’t give this one up… how else will I get to achieve all the travelling I’ve listed as other ‘someday’ goals ;)

So my application must have arrived. Hurrah. Even though the post office’s website doesn’t record it as delivered – very poor.

now to wait patiently. I’ll consider this done when my new passport is in my hot little hand!
