The car repair place phoned me today, and let me know that my engine is totally seized up. To fix it I’d need to invest about $7,000. Obviously if I had that kind of money I would buy a new car, not fix an old one.
So it looks like I’m going to be on the bus for a while.
The good news is that I know how to do that. I can survive.
And I get to cancel my insurance now, which will be a savings. Also, won’t have to spend $100 a month on gas. Maybe I’ll be able to save that money, and in about ten years or so I can go ahead and buy a nice new car.

Wow. I don’t know whether to be proud or feel dumb.
I called the towing company, and not only are they open, they will be here in half an hour with my car to pick up the keys, on their way to the dealership to be fixed.
That was easy.
Goes to show I shouldn’t let depressive thinking keep me from trying.

Oh, man. I don’t know what happened to me today. I totally spaced calling the tow company. I think my mind is starting to become convinced that “I am a woman without a car” and has stopped trying to fix it. Today I guess I’m still low-energy, though not exactly depressed, and time is slipping past faster than I’m recognizing.
Now it’s past 5pm, and I bet it’s past company hours.
I hope the person whose home I left it parked in front of isn’t all mad at me yet. I will call the tow truck first thing tomorrow.

Geez, I just thought of something else. Without my car I won’t have access to my garden. Everything I just planted is going to die.
God, that’s sad.

Well, as bad things go I guess this isn’t the worst. It is just inconvenient.
My car decided to die today. Just driving down the street, it suddenly stopped responding. No RPM. And it turned off. Had trouble steering it gently to a safe place beside the road, because the power steering wasn’t engaged any more.
The oil idiot light was on, but I know the oil was full just last week when I checked it.
Now I’m going to have to get it towed and repaired. That will probably be $600. It seems car repairs always cost that much.
In order to pay just for the towing I’m going to have to steal money from my daughter’s college book fund. Luckily she has several spare hundred dollars in there. Her books for this semester are already paid for.
At least I won’t get in trouble for leaving my vehicle abandoned very long. Most likely I can get a friend to drive me to the banks so I can get funds transferred from her bank to mine. Then I’m paid again in the beginning of the month. There is always a chance that somehow it will be affordable. If not, I’m sure the dealership can either set up a payment schedule with me, or let me keep my car there until I am able to pay in full a month or two from now.
As bad things go, this isn’t the worst. Our health is all good. I won’t lose a job over this, and my daughter can still make it to her school on the city bus. I just have to deal with shopping and errands on the bus again, which I’ve already done once this year. So I know I can do it.
It’s just a scary inconvenience, not the end of the world.

So, I got my car fixed.
Only the internal things, but thats what’s most important anyway.
So my engine, oil, valves and whatever else is GOOD.
Got new breaks, replaced all my missing bulbs and got new fog lights!
Unfortunately, someone tried to steal my brand new fog lights the night the car came home…lol, probably a crack-head. They didn’t get them but they broke the front cage thing trying, sooo….
I still have some cosmetic things to work on but my baby is running smooth and I am happy!!!
