I need things on my walls! 5 months ago

But aside from that, I’m quite happy with my room for now.

    FINALLY 5 months ago

...Emily and I got a bathroom mirror.

    And promptly hung it incorrectly.

More photo ideas. 6 months ago

I’d also like to try to make a photo frame/bulletin board out of a Scrabble board.

    (Another Photojojo project.)

    Photos. 6 months ago

Since I have four blank walls and thousands of photos just waiting to be printed, I’ve been thinking of a cheap and easy way to display them.

I browsed Photojojo and really love these two options:

I’ll probably start off with the clip idea as it’s easier to get started. The only thing I worry about is having so many holes in the wall. However, I think if I use tacks instead of nails I should be okay.

    Bookcases Again 7 months ago

I finished the bookcases! They look STELLAR, and when I add the crown molding, they really will look like built-ins.

    Bookshelves 7 months ago

OK seriously I’m freaking out re:bookshelves.

I thought it would be fine, that I’d be able to locate ubercheap bookshelves a la the ones my mother and father had for twenty years; I’m talking the cheap-o particle board sort. Well, they aren’t anywhere to be found, at least not for super cheap, and I’m thinking that a house with two women who were not only raised in the Church of Literature but who have Bachelor’s degrees in fucking poetry will need three bookshelves, no question.

Does anyone have any advice or tips on seriously low-cost bookshelf options, alternatives, etc.?

    UPDATE
I went to Big Lots. There are five-shelf bookcases for $27. I’m buying three white ones and covering the back panel with fabric to create a richer feel!

    Couch 8 months ago

Remember that time Mom and I bought an antique couch and decided the Hell with it, we wer going to upholster that motherfucker ourSELVES; how hard could it be? And then we spent lots of money on fabric and supplies and we half-assed it to death? And then I was in the middle of that when I left Russ so it went not only to a back burner but a back burner on a completely different STOVE?

    Fast forward four months.

I bit the bullet and sent it off today to be repaired and reupholstered professionally. It will cost $400. Worth. Every. PENNY.
