When I lived around Ventura, about an hour south of Santa Barbara, there was a restaurant there that had a mermaid. She would linger on a rock island in her fish tail and would not speak.

Then the restaurant changed and the mermaid was gone.

I can barely imagine the sassy mermaid you would paint…
