How I did it: My boyfriend and me registered for the Flint Zombie Walk. Cities around the world celebrate a day of dressing up as zombies and donating food + money. The money from all the participants went to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan which has a four (out of four) star rating on Charity navigator. We had a good time moaning and groaning at local pedestrians and enjoyed tasty desserts right after. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I went through my older stuff - boxes of small gifts, stuffed animals, baskets - and put them old bags that I didn't need anymore, either. Then, I dropped it all off at a Salvation Army.It feels great! I still have more to do, but it's a great start! Read how I did it…
How I did it: My family uses a charity organization every couple of years when we go through a cleaning stage. I had already packed up a bunch of stuff that I didn't want and wasn't using. They hadn't been around in awhile and I called them and made an appointment and they came and picked up stuff up. Read how I did it…

I decided that I have way too much stuff (surprise!) and that letting lots of the trinkets and smaller stuffed animals go that I don’t really care about was the right thing to do. I also threw in some older electronics and clothing that I knew wouldn’t be useful to me anymore. I went to a Salvation Army, dropped them off, and don’t miss a thing!
When decluttering gave stuff to Oxfam and Shelter and I think some others. It’s a good way to declutter and also to give to charity.

$300.00 sent off yesterday. Felt great to do it!!!
Four bags of this and that, clothes mostly, finally gone. It’s nice to have that tiny extra patch of space on the floor. Not that it will last long, I imagine.
This means I get to buy four bags’ worth of new stuff, right?

I already give quite a bit to charity…I always donate to the local second hand store (atleast 6 times a year). i guess that since I have been doing it for so long, that I forgot that it was ‘charity’...
I have also donated blood. I guess what I would like to work on is giving more $$$. I guess I could sign off on this goal once I do that.
Basically I just adopted this goal to dump my stuff at the Salvation Army. That hasn’t happened yet, but heck, I’m moving in a month, so I might as well wait so I can clean out all my stuff and get it all there.
But in other donation-related news, today I officially became a member of Minnesota Public Radio. I’ve been stealing The Current for years now, so I’m making up for lost time.
Oh! And last month I became a Friend of the local Library.

I would love to donate at least $250 to the ASPCA. I’ve always wanted to donate to them.
Mike just is.
OK, I finally managed to corner my coworker with the truck and get her to commit to helping me out on Saturday (I do have enough chivalry to carry all the heavy boxes myself… ;) ) Can’t wait to get rid of this stuff…
