    This month. 6 months ago

A friend has a tent at a renaissance fair in Texas, so I’m going to go down there for a weekend sometime this month. It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a ren fair…maybe 7th grade? I’ve already ordered my costume, and I’m pretty much ready to go!

Renaissance fairs are pretty cool 8 months ago

Going can be a lot of fun, as long as you find one that isn’t just thrown together and completely commercial. The one I went to was just a bunch of stores who wanted your money, and hardly any of them even sold unique items.

The highlight of the trip was seeing Goetic demon sigils made into necklaces and being sold as some type of astrological “good luck charms”. That sure was funny.

I’m excited. I’m going with my friend and some of her friends to one of these and I’ve never been to one. I wish I had some type of renaissance-like clothing I could wear. I’m sure I’ll find something half-way there. Or not. I know this will be fun no-matter-what. A little less than a month to go!

Not actually giving up, but putting on hold because in my current situation it’s unrealistic. Anyway, I have another 50 things I want to do that I don’t even have posted on this site, so I’m taking down the ones that wont be achievable until the future and posting the ones I can focus on now.

It was a lot of fun, even though it rained the whole time
I guess that could have made it more authentic…

And it was excellent!! we camped out overnight at the Texas Renaissance Fair, which is reputed to be to largest in the USA. There were bonfires and belly dancing and people dressed up like elves, pirates and pixies all over the place, all night long, it was like Christmas, Halloween and Mardi Gras all rolled into one! The fair grounds are gorgeous… I will definitely be doing it again next year.

Fun and silly combined. 2 years ago

We know people and have cousins that are very into the whole SCA thing. However, we (the Mister and I) have always ducked that bullet for some reason. Just never got into it.

Well, if you haven’t been, the faires are a riot. Full of stuff that is moderately to expensively priced (depends on where in the country you go. We are in Georgia with a well established faire). Some of the stuff if just mind-boggling. Some of it is well entertaining.

All in all, definitely worth an afternoon’s entertainment, and if you find the spirit moves you – good for entertainment long into the evening as well.
