It just made our Valentine's Day 9 months ago

First off, I am not wealthy by any means, but feel like this can be as important as tithing, and I treated it as such. My wife and I went to a small local Italian place for Valentine’s day for a late dinner. As we were eating and noted that the restaurant had slowed considerably, we discussed the idea of leaving a $100 tip on what would end up being a $36 ticket including drinks. I did not want to wait around for him to find it for the pat on the back, but we were curious to see his reaction, so we went out to the car and drove around and parked in front of the window looking in on the table where we had been sitting. His reaction was priceless. He did a little dance and ran over to brag to the other waitstaff about it. We had obviously made his day, and of course, he had made ours because there is no way to explain the feeling you get when you do something like this for someone else! I would absolutely recommend doing this if you get the chance!

A 1,000 percent tip... 19 months ago

Most of the people I know who work in restaurants have more horror stories than fond memories. And I’ve seen how a big tip can brighten someone’s day. I once left $10 on the table (100 percent) for a waitress that was getting verbally abused at another table and she hugged me as I was leaving.

I like the idea of doing this in the days leading up to Christmas.

How Cool! 20 months ago

I’ve been a waitress and so I know how much this would mean to someone. I would LOVE to do this.

Amazing 3 years ago

Best feeling I’ve ever had. All about karma

I've always wanted to do this 3 years ago

I think it’d be fun to go out to eat about a week before Christmas, and leave a $100 tip.

I’d probably do it at our favorite Chinese restaurant, even though it’s a buffet and you do most of the work yourself. They know us on sight, they’ve always been sweet to us and we’ve been going there for years.
