My mom told me about this thing she heard one time. The idea was that you should allow yourself one nail to bite while you let the rest of your nails grow out.
I wasn’t going to use this trick since I like the idea of going cold turkey better, but the other night I was going nuts! It was unexpected since I haven’t bitten my nails in 4 weeks or more. So I went ahead and picked at my thumb nail, totally giving myself permission to do it. Funny thing, I wasn’t interested at all after I told myself it was “ok” to do it. Ha!
This one is for sure a done deal now. While they aren’t crazy long talons (which I wouldn’t want anyways!) They are definitely a respectable length and are HEALTHY.

They are in need of a little cuticle loving, but I have not picked, bitten, or ruined a single nail in over 3 weeks. They are already looking long and elegant. I am setting up a manicure date for this week and then I can check this as accomplished! 5 years ago

Evenings are when I feel that crunch time. The day is coming to a close and of course I have not checked off all the things on my list I wanted to accomplish. Work, work and more work then home to cleaning and cooking and all the things that have nothing really to do with me as a person. Why do I feel putting the dishes away is more important than some self pampering? I don’t have a good answer, which means it’s time to change that habit. So today I am giving myself a manicure. I gave myself a pedi the day before. My feet look great. For me it’s more about paying attention to myself and making the time for these things. I am worth the 20 minutes it takes to give myself a full manicure and the few minutes in the evenings it takes to moisturize the cuticles and put a coat of strengthener on. Funny how we forget these small things. 5 years ago

I let my nails grow and I love them. I feel more like a lady now. And they look way better than they would if they were acrylic. I feel like my longer polished nails smooth out my jagged edges, and maybe even improve people’s first impression of me. 5 years ago
