I’ve been working as a bar fitter for 4 years now and it was only recently that i got the opportunity to design a pub so as you can imagine i jumped at the chance.
Here is part of how it turned out.
How I did it: Its great to design something, to know you skills. To be creative, to design something. It doesnt matter what you design as long as you have fun.
In my time, I designed a handbag for the 1970's. I love the 70's and thought it would be a great time to use for my main design. After finnishing the bag, I felt proud of myself, as it turned out greater than I thought I could make.
I learned heaps, using my newly bought sewing machine. Designing something really opens yourself up to something new. So have fun, and create something for youself, or even a friend. Feel proud to say "I made this, all by myself".
Its better than some shitty thing you buy at the shops.
Lessons & tips: The only tip I can really give you is, plan. No matter what you want to make, its always best to draw it first!
The more you think about what you want to make, the more fun you'll have making it.
I end up always changing my original design!
Resources: Spot Light , my fav stor to shop at!
I used my sewing machine, and almost always my unpicker. A mistake teaches you so much.
Pins and leaddle and thread. the normal sewing kit.
