become an expert marksman

I used to be in the J.O.A.D. league in archery – I suppose this counts as marksmanship. I’ve given it up a long time ago when I should have remained in the league and competed to reach an expert level with my shooting.

However, I fail at this stuff, since I recently picked up a bow and tried to do some shooting like I used to. I was about a foot off from my mark and my concentration never returned to me. I give this goal up, since I foresee no chance in the future for me to train any further in archery.

A date for this. Hopefully very soon, and hoping to make an overnight camping trip out of this. Sharon and I are lucky enough to have A very capable teacher, who has lots of guns and loves to take us shooting. Plus, it is incredibly beautiful in the desert this time of the year. Really looking forward to this, even if we cant spend the night.

The weather is just perfect, and Sharon and I have a willing teacher. So we just need to get a date to go out shooting again soon.

My Dad has promised to start taking me shooting on Saturday afternoons. I plan on holding him to this promise, we used to do this when I was much younger and I loved it. Stay tuned for progress reports.

As a youth, I found shooting very relaxing. As I practice my eye exercises, I find myself reminded of shooting. Perhaps I should learn how to shoot a handgun, too, even though I know I will never prefer a handgun to a rifle.

I’ve always wanted to be a cop. But not a regular one. I wanted to be in a SWAT team. FBI Hostage Rescue Team. Rapelling down walls, jumping through windows, kicking down doors. And I’m not even an adrenaline junky.

Closest I’ve gotten to this – played paintball once about three years ago.
