Just one more to go (or three). Incredibly it’s the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I may be the only person on earth who haven’t seen it yet.

Forgot to put Blow Up down. I watched it several weeks ago. It was decent, not very interesting though.
Only three left and they are the hardest to find on DVD so I don’t know when I’ll finish them.
    Wings of Desire
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown
    The World of Apu

Fascinating and beautiful film about a Chinese woman who is married to a rich landowner. However, she is married as the Fourth Mistress, the fourth in a series of concubines. She and the three other wives are there for the master and must earn his favor every night. He chooses which mistress he will stay with at night by raising a red lantern in front of their house. Each mistress lives in their own apartment within a massive complex. They subtly fight between each other for the master’s favor.
It is a beautiful film, the reds and yellows are magnificent, yet it is also a restrictive film. The walls of the complex are always around the women and each shot seems to be framed by the doorways. The women are trapped within these frames.
Watching the film, I did not feel I was watching one of the Top 100 Movies, but as it concluded, I realized it was a worthy addition to the list. The acting, story and the cinematography flow together to create a film that is a visual treat yet will also stay in the viewer’s mind well after viewing.

    Breathless
    - excellent french film. Considered mandatory viewing for all film lovers, it brought the jump cut to cinema. Loved the free fell of it and the jazzy score.

    Grand Illusion
    - Great film about war and the people fighting the war. Another classic of cinema I am glad I watched.

    I’ve seen all but 8!!!

    The 400 Blows
    Blow Up
    Breathless
    Grand Illusion
    Raise the Red Lantern
    Wings of Desire
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown
    The World of Apu

I’ll start on these as soon as I’m done with the above two movie goals.

Hmm. . just did some research and Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and The World of Apu aren’t available on DVD right now so not sure how I’ll watch them.
