Catch EVP

I have been wanting to do this, too. A few times I have had some weird phone calls, with white noise type background, and sounds like someone is whispering. Also, has happened on answering machine a few times. I was so mad when a family member deleted the message. I wanted to save it, and try to record it. I have never gotten any more calls or messages like tht on my machine o hta. I am very receptive to this and wish tht it would happen again. Then I would pursue it further.

EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) & ITC (Instrumental TransCommunication) are terms used to describe the capture of voices on recordings whose voices were not heard by witnesses at the time of the recording. Much controversy exists; but some are thought to be the voices of spirits of those who have crossed over in death.

I’m so glad to see this goal on 43Things. I’ve captured a few EVP; but I’d like to devote more time to this effort when I have some better equipment.

Many more resources exist. I’ve captured only 3 EVP so far. One was lost through user error. One was entirely debatable; but sounded like a loud, growling human voice that caused me to throw the headphones on the desk. The third was quite clearly the whispered words, “they’re gone” captured in a cemetery.

I really look forward to trying some new equipment. I don’t have the computer I once had, and require a better computer and software. Hopefully next year I’ll have all the equipment I need. I tried several audio editing software packages when I had a better computer; but I liked Goldwave the best. I also prefer a digital recorder with no moving parts. The quality of recording is wonderful, and you can use the internal microphone without any worries (since there are no moving parts). Headphones are very important.

There is no real proof that EVP/ITC are spirit voices, and they should be analyzed with great scutiny; but there are some that just defy explanation.
